With a huge amount of downloadable hentai DVDs, scanned hentai and Western style (US/Europe) erotic comic books with a reported total of no less than 3,000 Gigabyte of content, there’s little doubt that HentaiKey is pretty much paradise for fans of hentai and toon porn. There’s enough content to keep visitors entertained for months on end – 24/7. Given the nature of an AEN network there are many inconsistensies in design and size among the five hundred included sites, but the best of them are so huge – and generally easy to navigate – that you’ll probably quickly find yourself a good handful of excellent favorites, rather than being relagated to annoying jumping between hundreds of small sites.
Do you love more bizarre and unrealistic (both in style and content) Japanese hentai toons? HentaiKey, despite the name, offers quite a lot of the former, but the main focus is on hentai. HentaiKey is an AEN – Adult Entertainment Network (formerly commonly known as AVS – Adult Verification Systems. The AVN variation, Video Network, doesn’t really fit in this case since videos are just one type of media on offer), with a main site linking to several hundred large and small sites with everything relating to erotic comics with monsters and demons.
Aside from a truckload of hentai DVDs in downloadable format you will also find enough scanned comic books and artwork and individual images to keep you entertained for months on end – and if that isn’t enough, if you browse around a bit you’ll find that even though updates on some of the network sites are sporadic or even non-existant, you can generally find something new every day at one or more sites. Even interactive Flash games and full blown hentai sex games hundreds of Megabyte in size can be downloaded from a number of sites. The latter probably won’t be of interest to the average HentaiKey member though, as they require that you know away around software like CD-emulators etc.

Let’s take a look at the main “hub” site itself where you will login and click through to the network sites. Rather than just linking to and presenting the many sites in the network you will be spending most of your time on (and chances are you will quickly limit yourself to a handful or two of the best here as well – more on that later), there is actually a fair amount of picture content available right there on the main site, a lot of it drawn exclusively for HentaiKey – and looking pretty damn good I might say, and in full color too unlike many – or rather most – of the licensed and scanned comic books you will find around the network.
As far as exclusive content goes, altogether the main site has seven small interactive Flash games (of the “fuck the hentai/toon babe” variety), 740+ comic pages (each short comic consisting of typically 5-15 pages) and 3,300+ additional images, most of them based around the characters from the comics. In addition to that the main site also has a load of licensed content (a mix of hentai and Western style toons, as well as 3D toons) – 2,000+ comic pages, 31,000+ pictures, 86 Flash “videos” and 210+ scanned story pages (some of them illustrated). And all that is before we even move on to the network of sites “protected” by HentaiKey – in fact I didn’t even notice all the content I just listed above from the main site before I had spent a few days browsing some of all the other sites.
So lets move on then. Adding up the numbers from the site categories (Hentai, DVD-Movies, Doujin-Manga, Anime, RPG Games, Artists, Cartoons and 3D – some categories obviously overlapping, and DVD-Movies generally covering downloadable hentai DVDs), the total number of sites lands somewhere around 475. I ran into numbers in the neighborhood of 800 a few places on the site, but I also noticed a mention in the news section saying that they are increasing the standard of sites and removing those that don’t quite cut it.
Whether the number is 400-something or closer to 800 it still sounds like you’ll end up doing a whole lot of bothersome jumping around among too many sites with different designs and layouts. In reality though you will probably quickly find yourself using just a handful or two of them 90% of the times – maybe even fewer, as the best sites in the network are truly huge, and generally well designed as well. In addition to that, even though the total amount of both picture and movie content across the network is staggering, you will still find a lot of it repeated on numerous sites. Thus, you might as well pull it off the largest and most user-friendly sites – and those tend to be the ones with the best download speeds as well, something that proved to be a bit of a problem (and in some cases a fairly severe one) with some sites.
What about the technical quality of movies, pictures and comic books then? Well, given the scope of this network there is some variation as you would expect, especially with pictures that vary in size all the way from a small 4-500 pixels on the long side to a pretty huge 3000+. The quality and size of the pages of the same scanned comic books may also vary in size between some sites – but in general the large sites that are bound to become your favourites pretty quickly are among the best in these areas as well. That goes for movies as well, as most of the DVDs you will be downloading (usually in two or more parts) usually look great in a high 640×480 resolution with a bitrate in the neighborhood of 1000 or higher, which also means though, that if you should happen to be on a slow Internet connection you will probably have to stick to the picture side of HentaiKey, unless you’re extremely patient during movie downloads. In the end, despite variations, I decided a quality score of 20/20 was deserved. Aside from the smallish resolution on parts of the picture content, the general impression of both pictures and movies across the network is well past the average porn site.

Regarding the movies, since they are mostly Japanese hentai, it’s also worth mentioning that most of them are either subtitled or dubbed in English. Some are not, but if they are of the type that mostly feature straight-on hardcore sex with little or no story, you probably won’t care too much about the limited dialogue anyway.
It’s quite clear that many of the hentai and toon fans behind some of those sites also appear to fit the description “computer geek” fairly well. In conclusion, even though I’ve never been inside another hentai/toon site or network before, I’m quite confident in saying that I have a very hard time you will find anything more comprehensive than HentaiKey. If you’re a hentai or toon fan I wouldn’t hesitate for a second – this network has everything you could dream off (alright, admittedly several sites could do better in the design/navigation department – I can live with that). You might want to look at getting a bigger external drive though – there’s supposed to be around 3,000 Gigabyte worth of videos and pics spread across the sites. And here I naively thought my recently purchased 250 Gb tertiary drive would last another year or two without constantly cleaning out my old content.
